Core Issues for Churches: Spiritual Formation

Tony Morgan:

The Unstuck Group recently conducted a small research project to identify the top five most common “core issues” of churches that go through our StratOp process. One of these common recurring issues is Spiritual Formation. We are noticing that churches are having difficulty creating a solid and simple discipleship strategy to help regular attenders, as well as newcomers, understand how to take next steps in their walk with Christ. Last week I connected with Mark Morgan to talk about why many churches seem to be stuck in this particular area. Below are some interview highlights:

  • We tend to mistake activity for productivity. Success is sometimes being measured by the number of people involved in activities rather than real spiritual growth.

These issues are exactly why we created and continue to host the Discipleship Blueprint. If you need help, be sure to come see us in October. We cover these topics and many more.
