Disciple-making is not complete until someone can reproduce. Just as we measure an apple tree’s maturity by its ability to make apples, or a wheat crop’s maturity by its ability to bear seed, disciples are not mature until they can make new disciples. Too often in our youth ministries we make “mules”—good workers who can’t reproduce. Reproduction is the sign of a mature disciple. Which means …I don’t agree with the first part of Rob’s post, but he makes some great points, though. It’s important to remember that replication is the goal of a D-Group. If you are discipling people who have no intention of making disciples, then you are better served by focusing on people who want to continue with the vision.
