Benefits of Journaling Through the Bible

Benefits of Journaling Through the Bible

One of the core practices of what we preach at Replicate is how journaling through the Bible is essential to engaging with the Living Word daily. We call these a “HEAR Journal.” While there are multiple methods to journaling through scripture, what we want to discuss this week is the benefits that you see when you journal. What are the benefits of journaling through the Bible?

Helps you focus

When moving from just reading the Bible to journaling through the Bible, you will see immense benefits in your ability to focus while you read. Instead of just reading the Bible to check a box off that you read, journaling through the Bible will help you pick out key themes, consider how they apply to you, and consider how God wants you to respond to what you’ve learned.

A great way to share what you’re learning

If you are in a D-Group, your HEAR journal will be essential to your daily life. Even if you aren’t, a benefit of journaling through the Bible is that you’ll have something to share with those you come in contact with during your day. As God grows your faith through your daily reading and journaling, you’ll have key takeaways that you can weave into conversations with your co-workers, friends, etc.

Creates a record of your spiritual growth

The best time to start journaling through the Bible was ten years ago. The second best time is today. As you create a habit of journaling through scripture, you’ll have a written journey of how God was working in your life during that period of your life. If you are going through a difficult time one year, your journal will be a record of how God used His Word to sustain you.
