As 2017 comes to a close, many of us are taking a reflective look at the year. One question worth asking is: Am I closer to Jesus at the end of 2017 than I was at the beginning? If not, why not? Have I spent daily time in prayer and God’s word? If not, why not? An embarrassing reality for many believers is that we often neglect a daily time with Christ, but have no problem spending 22 minutes watching that latest Netflix show.
As we look ahead to 2018, create the habit of a daily time in prayer and in the study of God’s word. Here’s is an easy tip to help: Have a smartphone? Put a calendar appointment for 30 minutes earlier than you normally get up. Spend 7 minutes in prayer and 15 minutes reading the Bible. If you put a calendar appointment on your phone, you are going to either have to do it or know you that didn’t do it. There will be no “forgetting” about it.
Now that you have time set aside you need a solid plan. You know the old saying, “Failing to plan is planning to fail”. To help people who have had failed attempts at reading through the Bible in a year, we developed a manageable plan that even busy believers could complete. Foundations 260 or, the F-260, is a two hundred and sixty-day reading plan that highlights the foundational passages of Scripture that every disciple should know. Thousands of people have been successfully using the Foundations 260 plan.
The plan is set up for believers to read 1 or 2 chapters a day for 5 days each week, with an allowance for weekends off. The 2 off-days a week are built in so you may catch up on days where you’re unable to read In order to digest more of the Word, the F-260 encourages believers to read less and to keep a HEAR Journal. Each of these components sets the F-260 apart from the many other plans available.
So what do you think? Do you want to grow closer to Christ in 2018? Download a free copy of the reading plan below. We also have an app for Android and iOS, or you can subscribe in the YouVersion Bible app.
If you want printable copies, we have links below (including books for children and teens). The Disciple’s Study Bible also has the plan built right into its pages as well. Whatever plan you use in 2018, our prayer is that you will take time to repurpose 22 minutes a day and grow deeper in your walk with Christ.
