Starting a D-Group: What is the Most Important Step?

Thanksgiving is coming next week. With its passing, Christmas will be upon us. As we reflect upon 2014 and look to 2015, lets make disciple-making a priority. January is the perfect month to begin a new D-Group. If you are new to Replicate Ministries, you may be wondering: How do I get started? lightstock_31972_max_jared_callais We will be running a series of posts over the next few weeks on preparing and launching a D-Group. What is the first (and most important) step? 1. Pray: Ask God for Wisdom Before selecting anyone to follow him, Jesus spent a considerable amount of time in prayer, particularly the night before selecting the 12. Luke 6:12–13, “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles.” Before you talk to men about God, talk to God about men (or women). What’s next? 2. Prepare: Work out the details Prior to your first meeting, you should be prepared to answer these questions:
  • Where are you going to meet?
  • What time will you meet?
  • How long will you meet?
  • What will you study? (more on this later)
  • What Scriptures will you memorize?
By meeting in a group of 3 to 5, as opposed to 1 on 1, you won’t feel the burden of shouldering the weight of leading by yourself. Click here to read all the posts in this series.
