Example Trip Schedule
Day 1
We will start our first day in the Holy Land with a visit of Caesarea, the port city built by King Herod the great, 2000 years ago and the place where Simon Peter shared the gospel with Cornelius, the Roman centurion who became the first Gentile convert (Acts 10: 44-48). Then we will travel to the top of Mt. Carmel where the great prophet Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal and proved to the people that the God of Israel is the true God
(1 Kings 18:17-40). We will stop in Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus, to visit the Basilica of the Annunciation before arriving in Tiberias for dinner.
Day 2
Today we will walk the path of Jesus in the land of Galilee, visiting the sites where his ministry began; where he preached, performed miracles and gathered the multitude to follow him. We will take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and spend time in a prayer service on the same waters Jesus walked
(Mark 6:48-50). We will then visit the museum in Nof Ginosar where the “Jesus Boat” is displayed. This 1st century boat was discovered sunk in the mud in the lake. We will continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount
(Matthew 5:1-12), Capernaum, home for Jesus and the headquarters of his ministry where we will visit the old Synagogue and Peter’s House, Tabgha, where the multiplication of the loaves and fishes took place
(Matthew 14:19-21) and Magdala where we will see the newly excavated village and synagogue from the time of Jesus.
Day 3
This day will be spent in the Golan Heights and surrounding area. We will start the day with a visit to Bethsaida to talk about the Feeding of the 5,000 and 4,000. We will then continue to visit the ruins of the City of Dan at Tel Dan, before we continue to Caesarea Philippi to talk about the statement Peter made which is the foundation of Christianity. Our day will end in Yardenit, with a baptism service at the Jordan River
(Luke 3:21-22) before we return to our hotel for dinner.
Day 4
We will start our day with a visit to Beit Shean, a beautiful city with the biggest Roman Ruins in Israel before we arrive in Megiddo, the city of King Solomon and King Ahab, where 20 different layers of civilization were excavated. It is also known as the valley where the kings of the earth will gather for the battle commonly referred to as the Battle of Armageddon
(Revelation 16:12-16). We will make a short stop in Jaffa, the old port city and the artists galleries. Here the port was used to send Cedar trees to King Solomon for the First Temple and here Simon Peter had his vision on the rooftop of the house of Simon the tanner. We will continue to Jerusalem for a breathtaking view from the top of Mt. Scopus and a traditional entrance to the Holy City, before getting to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner.
Day 5
In the morning, we will drive to the Dead Sea area, the lowest place on earth. Our first stop will be at Jericho where we will talk about the first city which was taken by Joshua upon their entrance to the Promised Land. We will stop at Qumran, the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written by the Yachad (Essene) Sect 2200 years ago and where they were discovered in 1947. We will drive by the Ein Gedi waterfalls where King David escaped from his enemies, and we will continue on to visit Massada, the royal fortress built by King Herod the great, used by the Jewish Zealots as the last stronghold during the great revolt against Rome between 66-73 AD (time permitting). After that, we will go into a hotel at the Dead Sea to have relaxing time and enjoy the hotel facilities, including experiencing ‘floating’ on the water of the Dead Sea
Day 6
This day will be a full day tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. Starting with a panoramic view from the Mt. of Olives, we will then continue to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus “often met with his disciples”
(John 18:2) and where he spent his last hours in solitude before being captured by the Romans
(Luke 22:47-53). Next, we will journey to Herodian, a fortress built by King Herod and the place where he is buried. We then proceed to visit Bethlehem, the birth place of Jesus to see the Shepherd Fields and the Church of the Nativity.
Day7
This will be another full day tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. We will start by visiting the Temple Mount before we begin the Via Dolorosa, the fourteen stations of the cross, starting at the Pool of Bethesda and to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. At Mt. Zion we will visit the Upper Room, Cenaculum, the place of the Last Supper
(Luke 22:14-22) and the place where the gift of the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples who were gathered there on the day of Pentecost
(Acts 2). King David’s Tomb is also located here. We will also visit the House of Caiaphas where Jesus spent his last night in prison, the Southern Wall Excavations and the Davidson Center before we continue to the Western Wall, the holiest place for Jews, to pray to God’s presence and put a note in the wall. We will tour the Western Wall Tunnels, walking under the Western Wall plaza to the base of this remarkable wall and along it, all the way up north.
Day 8
Today will begin with viewing the City of David Excavations, where we will learn about the Jerusalem of 3000 years ago, visit Hezekiah’s water tunnel and the Pool of Siloam. Then on to the Israel Museum, the place where the Dead Sea scrolls are on display and also the 2nd temple period model of Jerusalem. We then drive to visit Yad Vashem, the holocaust memorial for 6 million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. Our day will end with the Garden Tomb, Golgotha or Calvary. Here, Jesus was crucified, died on the cross, was buried and raised from the dead
(Matthew 27:33-61). Here we will have a service. Our farewell dinner will be this night before we head back home.
