The Upstream Collective:
What does this have to do with discipleship and the sending church? Before disciple-making ever crosses cultures, it begins by instructing believers with an appropriate posture toward Christ and his church. Like Paul, sent ones have the capacity to be “a dynamic and exemplary force” in encouraging their sending churches on mission. Instead, many hold the basic assumption that the church alone sends love, prayer, and resources. It’s the job of the sending church to cast and cultivate a vision for reciprocation—and even initiation—from their sent ones. This is why David is perfect for the IMB.
